Removing a key from the Keys Database

To remove a key from the Keys Database, follow these steps:

  • In the Windows Explorer, right click over the key file (which has the suffix ".eaes-key")
  • Choose the option "EAESCrypt" and then "Remove this key from the Database"

The key is removed from Keys Database. If it was the default key, EAESCrypt chooses another key from the database to be the new default key.

Once the key is removed from the database, it's not possible any more to decrypt the files that used this key. To be able to decrypt these files, you must insert the key back to the Keys Database. Refer to the section Inserting a key for more information about inserting a key from a key file.
